About
Hello! I'm Courtney, founder of Rooted Learning. I have taught many grades across three different provinces: Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories and Alberta. My journey in education began early, as I worked as a camp counsellor for people of all ages with disabilities, an educational assistant, and a coach. Over the past few years, I have developed a passion for helping students navigate their learning challenges. Teaching, particularly to those who struggle, has become the central focus of my career. I am committed to making a positive impact in the lives of my students, and I continuously seek new ways to support them. Regardless of age, everyone should know the joy of reading.

I follow the Orton Gillingham approach to teaching reading which is specifically designed for students with dyslexia, but will help any child through its diagnostic and prescriptive approach. This method not only enhances their reading skills but also fosters a love of learning. My goal is to assist every child who faces difficulties by providing tailored support and strategies.

I recently completed my Level B assessment, and Advanced Level B training to administer assessments such as the WIAT 4, PPVT, EVT, and more. I am excited to continue my journey with Orton-Gillingham as I expand my expertise and create a nurturing environment for all learners.
